OOC Plans: Yagura and Kazami are getting hitched and I'm pretty excited. Especially with the baby on the way. Sooner or later Yagura's gonna have to spill about the fact that he had another family with Amma and lost them completely. Other drama might be a bad uncle or something trying to take Shouta or Serra away from Yagura and Kazami.


Yagura stands at a decent 5'11, sporting black hair and red eyes. He nearly always wears a pair of black gloves. He can typically be seen in uniform, otherwise he'd be seen in some bland clothes.


Losing your lover and two children can definitely destroy a man and Yagura is no exception. Most of his feelings these days are anger and complete numbness. The numbness is his mind trying to defend himself from anymore agony and the rage is always present. He constantly blames himself for what happened to Amma, San and Daichi and that's where the anger comes from. He's angry at himself, angry at the people responsible and angry at Amma for not being able to protect herself and their family. Irritation can send him into a dangerous state..

Yagura only has more reason to completely cut himself off from others, making him rather cold and uncaring in social situations. When working he's still stern and driven, but also wields a noticeable coldness.


Yagura Masayoshi was born to a rich family in the Yu Dao state of the United Republic on Xuishao 11th, raised by his parents Isobu and Mei. Yagura was raised to be prim and proper by an overbearing mother. Isobu was constantly busy with his work as a successful business man. Yagura hated not having his dad around, but Isobu always told him work and success was more important emotional desires.

The 5 year old accepted these words, anything to make the pain go away. Two years later, Yagura sneezed and accidentally set his mother’s dress on fire. She wasn’t fire and somewhat hated the fact her child was a bender of the most volatile element. Much preferring the idea of having a water or airbender.

Mei had wanted her son to never try and practice firebending, but Isobu felt differently. Seeing prep school and firebending lessons a good way to keep him busy. He knew he’d barely have any free time, but knew he’d grow up to be a successful firebender who’d bring the Masayoshi name pride.

He quickly became stressed out by his busy schedule, struggling to complete all his homework and become a decent firebender wasn’t easy. It didn’t leave too much time for friends and made him quite awkward. Whenever Yagura was tasked with a group project, he’d always volunteer to do all the work and allow his partners to write their names on it.

He was kept too busy and was far too scared to break any rules, living his life inside the lines. His mind becoming hardwired for order and maintaining it. When he was 12, Yagura ended up exhibiting some OCD symptoms. Getting a fear of germs, being afraid of hurting himself, a need for his surroundings to be clean and symmetrical and a habit of double checking things. These characteristics made it hard to make friends.

When he was 14, his father died of a heart attack. Naturally his will demanded everything go to his only son. But Yagura was far too young and inexperienced to take power. So it was agreed his uncle would take control until Yagura was deemed ready. It was somewhat heart breaking, but slightly relieving.

A year later, the Masayoshi estate was raided by earthbending bandits. Yagura was unable to fend them off, an earthbender used a large rock to slam into his mother’s spine. The raid caused them to lose a good amount of their earnings and Mei to lose use of her legs. From then on, Yagura had an intense hatred of crime in the world. Deciding crime was the source of every problem in the world and forcing order was the only way to succeed.

After spending a few months caring for his mother, Yagura decided to journey to Republic City. Hearing about how the city was infested with criminals and gangs. Becoming a cadet at the tender age of 16. For two years, he worked hard at his job. Catching criminals and anyone who didn’t care about the law.

Now aged 18, Yagura was a fairly seasoned cop. One night he had to respond to a house call, some girl and her ex-boyfriend just went through a huge breakup and had a really bad fight. The house was in shambles and he barely managed to break up the fight and arrest them both. The girl who introduced herself as Hua was clearly heartbroken from the whole incident.

After she got off with a warning and her ex got a few months in prison on domestic violence charges, Yagura was compelled to visit her. She ended up asking him out to a mover and he didn’t know how to say no. An admittedly corny way to start a relationship, but they did end up falling in love. They even ended up consummating their relationship, after dating for a couple of months. Yagura realized he was letting his relationship with Hua get in the way of his work. So he abruptly ended their relationship. A few months later, Yagura was still somewhat interested in her. But her flaws and lack of free time convinced him to stay away from her.

  • Fire Arcs

The user's punches and kicks will automatically create small arcs of fire from them as they strike that spills forward in the direction of the attack.

  • Fireball

The user is able to shoot small blasts of fire in rapid succession toward something.

  • Fire Whip

The user is able to create a belt of flames which they can use to strike and burn with.

  • Heat Control (Passive)

The user is able to increase the heat of the air, objects and liquids.

  • Fire Blocking (Passive)

The user is able to, if timed correctly, break away or deflect other fire attacks.

Basic Powers

(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed.)

  • Fire Stream

The user is able to create a large semi-dense stream of fire in a given direction from a physical attack that can strike and even topple something hit by it. (Achieved after 1 week)

  • Jet Propulsion (Passive)

The user is able to create intense bursts of flames from their hands and feet which can be used to propel them through the air for a short time. (Achieved after 2 weeks)

  • Fire Blades

The user is able to create thin blades of fire from their melee attacks which are capable of cutting objects as well as burn them. While performing this technique, the user cannot use any other form of firebending techniques.

  • Fire Bomb

The user sends forth a massive fireball which explodes into a torrent of flames upon contact. The user must take time to build up this attack and is vulnerable while doing so.

  • Enhanced Fire (Passive; Exclusive; Color Choice)

The user's flames become enhanced and burn much hotter than normal. The user is able to change the color of their flames as they wish (excluding black flames) and can simultaneously use two different colors.

  • Flame Missiles (Exclusive to Sun Warrior)

The user can launch a stream of fire which they can guide towards the target, allowing them to target more agile opponents. The user is immobile while using this power.

Advanced Powers

(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed. Also, Master level powers can only be achieved after 7 months and require 2 open power slots.)

  • Heat Resistance (Passive)

The user gains a partial resistance to normal flames from other people (excluding Enhanced Fire, Fire Breath and Wall of Flames) and natural sources as well as a near complete immunity to their own flames.  (Achieved after 2 months)

  • Immolation

The user is able to immolate something in a thin film of concentrated flames. Due to the concentration, the flames are highly resistant to being extinguished but also cannot be bent away from where they are once they are applied unless they are removed entirely.  (Achieved after 4 months)

  • Fire Charging (Passive)

The user is able to charge up any of their flames which causes them to burn stronger and more intensely for a short time as well as having considerable more force behind them.  (Achieved after 6 months)
