Rie is a petite and youthful looking girl, standing at 5'1. She dresses modestly and doesn't bring much attention to herself in appearance. She has dark black hair and deep blue eyes. She looks younger than she actually is.

Through Rie’s time spent a prisoner under the Syndicate, the girl’s emotions dulled to a vivid apathy. Her longing to find her brother is her only reason for surviving. The girl curses the Syndicate for ripping her life away from her. She wishes to destroy every last one of them. Thus, the girl has very little interest in material things and the like.

Rie does not have much social skill as all her life has either been spent training or being experimented upon. As such, the girl speaks more with actions than words. Her resilience through her torture has carried on with her as she can now live off very little food and water. She truly only cares for her own revenge, but she is willing to work with others to achieve that goal.

Ren and Rie Kita were raised in the Fire nation, under the nobles Masaru and Kyoko Kita. Masaru was a firebender, and his lovely wife, chosen for him by his parents when they were in their teens, was a non-bender, raised in a firebender family. The two parents were never truly in love, and they never really spent time with their children either. Ren was born first, on a rainy night. He wasn’t raised by his mother but rather by a wet nurse by the name of Nori. Then, six years later, Rie Kita was born. Less than a year later is when Ren discovered his affinity for fire, by accidentally heating up his bath water too much and burning himself. Ren would have loved to have more time hanging out with his baby sister, but family matters called, and he was rushed off to see a firebending teacher at once.

Ren was gone for a couple of years. Eventually he was told to return home when he turned twelve years of age. When he returned, he had truly met Rie for the first time, and had decided that if she discovered her bending, he would teach her what he knows. Unfortunately, the younger sister never was to discover the ability to firebend. Her brother, still excited at the prospect of having an apprentice, trained his sister diligently with their parents permission.

Rie learned quickly, and she learned well. She could soon best her brother in combat without any need for bending. Rie’s wits often led her to many victories over brother. Both the siblings loved to bounce ideas for combat off one another. Ren was the more focused and intelligent one, but Rie was the more creative and tricky one.

A couple of years later, the two siblings worked in perfect harmony together. All that changed when the Syndicate attacked. First, they burnt down the Kita household. Their parents had died, trapped in their bedrooms. Rie had fortunately escaped this entire ordeal as she was away from the house. Once she saw the blaze, she ran home as fast as she could. Her luck ran out there. She stumbled upon a large group of grunts for the Syndicate. As quick as she was compared to them, she was far too outnumbered and soon succumbed to their attacks. When she awoke, she was being carried away from her home. She screamed her brother’s name, hoping so dearly he did not die. She caught a slight glimpse of Ren before being thrown onto a ship and taken away for good.

The girl sat captive on that ship, unknowing of who her captors were or where she was going. She was scared as all hell, but knowing her brother survived brought her some peace. Eventually, the ship came to a stop. She arrived at some unidentifiable research facility. They had her restrained and sent to a cell. The guards taunted and told her to rest, as she would need it. They weren’t kidding.

The young nonbender awoke the next morning to a loud knocking on her cell door. She was led to a small and cramped room with a chair set in the middle. By the feel of things, Rie could tell they were underground. She was forced onto the chair and strapped in. She cried and screamed all the way until they eventually gagged her. Soon enough, a strange and lanky man wearing a lab coat rolled a cart full of strange liquids and bottles. The girl shivered. She had an idea of where she was taken. The man uttered under his breath as he set up. She faintly overheard how the Syndicate had given him this “opportunity” to make his business fly. Apparently, Rie was to be used as a guinea pig for a host of strange drugs. This torture shattered her emotions to near desolation.

After four violent years of hell, the girl received an offer from a fellow prisoner to the operation to escape. She wasn’t optimistic, but it was the only chance she had. Since Rie had been there the longest, the other prisoners decided to be her distraction. In this strange stroke of good karma, Rie was indeed able to outsmart and evade all guards. She reached the surface and had no clue what to do. Her mind was in pieces from so much pain and suffering, so she ran, having no other ideas of what to do. She eventually collapsed from exhaustion, but some kind stranger had found her. They brought her back to civilization.

Rie awoke to find herself in a normal bed. The broken girl was still paranoid and ran once again. She deduced she was in the Earth Republic. Eventually, an orphanage discovered her and took her in. Rie refused to talk to anyone, but she knew staying there was her only chance of survival. She hadn’t forgotten about her brother, though. Her first priority once she got out was finding him. And so she stayed at the orphanage for two years. The torture she went through for four long years left its mark, however. She acted cruelly to other children while the caretakers weren’t watching. The girl grieved over all she had lost this way. They trusted her as she was one of the oldest. The hope of reuniting with her brother was her only motivation to keep living. After 2 years, she was finally 16. She fled the orphanage and roamed the streets of the Earth Republic. She found an article in a newspaper about a group of people travelling the nations and wreaking havoc. Rie desperately held onto this as a clue and decided to go to the one place they hadn’t struck: Republic City.

Standard Jian

This jian is a fairly normal blade of no real value. Rie bought it on her way to Republic City for defense.
