Arena Info

The arena is a flat platform, cleaned and polished for the matches. The octagonal arena is fenced off, making it so none may leave or enter until a match has concluded. There are earth disk slots and water vents evenly spaced out underground for use.

Neera: Neera looked around the arena as she walked in, before setting her eyes on her next opponent. She wouldn't show it, but she was slightly nervous. Don't screw up, Neera, not in front of a huge crowd like this. she told herself. She nodded at him as a sign of acknowledgement, and that was it. Neera took a deep breath to calm her tense muscles, mumbling a quick "Sorry," as she bent a waterspout at his direction. The main idea was to shoot him right up into the air.

Dice Roll Outcome: 2-Glancing Blow

Osamurei: Osamurei can't help but feel a twinge of regret at having to face a waterbender, his broken body having only recently been salvaged by one following his narrow victory over Nahko. Nevertheless, Osamurei knows he has a job to do, and he is not to be hindered by twinging sentiments. Stepping into the arena, Osamurei barely has time to take in the atmosphere and decor of the arena before he sees a waterspout barreling toward him. Deeming that his chances of successfully sidestepping the liquid cyclone are minimal, Osamurei instead decides to try modifying its trajectory with his own bending abilities. Taking aim at the waterspout, he unleashes a pressure controlled stream of flames, hoping to use its power to halt the progress of the waterspout. His countermeasures aren't successful in completely halting its path, but he dulls its momentum sufficiently enough so that when it hits him he is merely blasted upwards a few feet and he manages to land spryly on two legs. With the time for his own onslaught at hand, Osamurei assumes the Two Tigers Subdue Dragon Stance, and performs a series of simple kicks and punches in place. Each flick of the foot and jab of the fist producing a ball of fire that he launches in Neera's general vicinity. Osamurei doesn't bother pressurizing them, as the fireballs actually making contact with Neera would simply be a secondary bonus as part of a strategy he hopes to execute later in the fight.

Neera: She could only blink before she hastily bent a shield of water in front of her body to block the oncoming attacks. Thankfully enough, it seemed to work. Neera never had a lot of confidence in her combat abilities, so this came as a surprise to her. Wow, okay, you're doing alright so far.. hopefully.. but the green eyed girl supposed now wasn't a good time to dwell on the small achievement. Swiftly, she molded her shield into a volley of water bullets, thinking it would be a better idea to freeze them first before she shoots them at Osamurei's direction.

Dice Roll Outcome: 2-Glancing Blow

Osamurei: Comprehending full well that the velocity of Neera's frigid pellets will outclass the speed of whatever method of fire he can conjure up to block them, Osamurei is left with the solitary option of crouching down in hopes that this will circumvent the ability of the bullets to reach their mark. The elementary maneuver allows him to evade the majority of the projectiles, but a few that were on a lower trajectory cut through the top of his head and leave deep gashes. Reviewing his opponent's first two attacks rapidly in his mind, Osamurei determines that she seems to have a proclivity for attacks executed from a distance, which suggests a possible to aversion to combat that is up close and personal. Using his powers of jet propulsion to close the distance between himself and Neera, Osamurei unleashes a round of relentless uppercuts, infused with arcs of flame. Each upward jab is aimed to make contact with areas of her abdomen.

Neera: Her eyes widened as she realized he was reducing the distance between them. She reminisced from the beginning of the battle, realizing that she'd been attacking him from a long range this whole time. Neera didn't have a preference over anything, but she would admit attacking from further distance came a lot easier to her. Not having much of a choice now, Neera quickly bent a waterspout to move across the arena, matching the firebender's speed with jet propulsion as well as successfully avoiding his fire arcs. Neera decided that maybe long ranged combat was her strength in this match. Once she confirmed she was a safe distance away from him again, she bent a water jet right towards him.

Osamurei: Osamurei is scarcely able to stifle a yawn of contempt as he sees the pitiful jet of water careen towards him. He simply lunges toward it and karate chops down, creating an arc of pressurized flames as he does so. His well-timed slice stops the jet in its tracks and banishes it harmlessly to the ground. It isn't lost on Osamurei that Neera immediately continued leaning on her bread and butter after being faced with close quarters combat. Nevertheless, he is having a blast in this fight and so Osamurei decides to humor Neera by continuing to dabble in long range attacks. However, he also decides to insert a bit of dirtiness into the engagement, using his powers of heat control to slowly heat up the air in hopes of slowly sapping his opponent's vigor. Arranging himself into a stable yet flexible horse stance, Osamurei performs seven thrust punches in rapid succession. With each punch, a ball of inferno erupts from his fists. He aims the first four punches so that their fireballs launch in a trajectory toward Neera's upper body. The latter three fireballs are aimed toward her legs in order to maximize his chances of scoring a hit.

Neera: Neera managed to dodge some of them by ducking and swerving her body away. However, "Ow," she hissed, sidestepping one second too late before one of the fireballs managed to singe her leg while another hit her in the abdomen. Was it her, or it was getting kind of hot in here? She suspected her opponent had something to do with it. But she couldn't accuse him in the middle of a match. Well, I can play dirty too. she thought. With the help of the nearest earth disk slot, Neera quickly bent some water to it and mixed it to form a source of mud. From there Neera bent out an array of mud bullets, and began firing them where Osamurei stood. She aimed some bullets towards his abdominal area and arms, wanting to make it look like she was trying to get him at different areas of his body. Then she aimed several more bullets at his eyes, which was actually what she had planned. Dice Roll Outcome: 2-Glancing Blow (Re-rolled a 5)

Osamurei: Initially preparing a pressurized fire stream to deflect the mud bullets aimed at his body, Osamurei has to rapidly change course as he comes to the realization that there is a second barrage careening toward his eyes. He quickly performs a swift uppercut, generating an arc of pressurized flames as he does so that cut through the the bullets like a hot knife through butter. Unfortunately, His defense of his eyes comes at the expense of his body and he winces in moderate pain as the initial barrage of mud pellets makes contact and splatters his body. Initially finding great amusement in the exchange of blows, the humor has faded and now Osamurei wants nothing more than to put his opponent away and end the fight. Activating his powers of jet propulsion once more, Osamurei launches himself in a circle around Neera, creating a perimeter of immolated flames around her as he does so. Completing the circle, he jets himself about 10 feet behind her and stops. Finding his feet, Osamurei conjures up a formidable bomb of flames and launches the fiery mortar towards Neera, hoping to put a stamp on his efforts in the fight. Dice Roll Outcome: 3-Miss/Dodge
