Kaya is a kind, loving soul. She has always been creative, and tends to be inspired. She is a striving artist, and is trying to become successful. But, if she gets very, very angry, she unleashes a torrent of ice and water upon the opponent.

Kaya was a very small girl when her parents noticed she was a bender. One day, in the third grade, a little boy was throwing mud at her; it had just rained. Kaya got worked up and told him to stop. Without her knowing, Kayas parents showed up, her father Illidan and mother Lillian. Kaya was screaming for the boy to stop, but he wouldn't. Out of resources, Kaya pushed her hand out, and sent a small chute of water at the small child. He never bugged her again.

When she went home, her dad immediately went to lie in bed. He was very stressed, for he was an earth bender, Lillian was a water bender, and he wanted Kaya to be an earth bender like him, but that was not the truth. Denying the truth, he had hope. A cruel, mean hope. He made her try to earth bend. When he tried to get her to bend a pebble, she just got confused and ran of crying. When he continued to press her, she was filled with rage and stomped her feet, causing the ground to ripple. Her father was happy, but remembered that the ground was mud. He gave up and told her to go inside, and to clean up. She waltzed right in there, trailing mud everywhere. Lillian was enraged.

She was told to clean it up.Then, to answer Illidans hopes, she bent water from the sink and 'mopped' the floor. It was sloppy, but it got the job done. Lillian was very proud. Illidan, however, was not. When she got older, Illidan started abusing Kaya before Lillian got home. Kaya, her lips clamped shut like a clam, never told a soul.

After 10 years of perfecting the water element, she had just turned eighteen. She told her parents that she was going to move out and start a new life in republic city, away from the farm. When Lillian heard this, she broke down in tears. Kaya tried to comfort her, but her mother continued to cry. Her dad said, "If me and your mother, this humble house, this humble life aren't good enough for you, then go, for I do not want you. ". But Kaya knew the truth. He just needed an excuse.

She never thought of her dad ever again, until the next year when she heard he died. Her mother was in bad shape, near death caused by a broken heart that started the day kaya left. Lillian died at Illidans funeral, and before death told Kaya to bury her next the her husband. So they did so.

Kaya was crushed by the depression, the sadness like a million pound weight on her back; always to be a burden. She felt she couldn't live anymore. And then she discovered art. She painted for hours, even days before she would lay the brush down. She bought an apartment in Republic City and is currently living there. She has devoted her life to art, and has sold over 1000 yauns worth of paintings. Her life isn't over yet, and she doesn't plan on it ending soon.
