Appearance

5'2. 115 lbs. Her brown eyes seem to turn a deeper, almost red, shade when Yinka. Long brown, nearly black hair, falls to her back. Slender, but still strong, she has a very youthful look to her.

Personality

Yinka is very reserved, preferring to keep her thoughts to herself. The only time she will outwardly show her personal opinion is if she feels she or Suyang has been wrongly done. She's introverted, and has a very large disdain for masses of people and crowds. They irritate her immensely, to the point of crazed agitation. Suyang is very opposite of Yinka. Once she gets to know you, she is the type that is bright and energetic. She can be very flippant, with a sarcastic tongue, and a teasing personality. She is confident and straightforward, though not in the same blunt way as Yinka.

History

My Mother’s name was Yukata, and my Father is Sudo. Mother wasn’t always a “was”, I remember her clearly still. I also remember my Nanny, Taiang. But Mother was taken away and Taiang is dead; they were never fond of each other.

You see, I have the same problem as my Mother, and although this problem has only just started to grow within me; it has always affected me. My Mother is Mother, but by far “mom”. She had a tendency to ignore me, and act as if I didn’t exist. At first, I thought it was against me, but then I realized she did it to Father as well.

Sometimes, she’d be incredible. We’d bake cookies and read together, it was fantastic and memorable. Other times, she’d do things like threaten me, ignore me, or attack me. Once, Father walked in while she was strangling me, saying I wasn’t her real daughter. She was set on killing me, ridding her home of such an imposter. That’s when Taiang came along.

I was seven and just learned about the first thing I had in common with my Mother; I could bend air. At first, I thought Taiang was going to be my teacher, but it turned out she was a nonbender like Father. Mother immediately despised her, treating her more like a servant, than anything. Father was very supportive on how Taiang decided to raise me. She wasn’t just my Nanny, but my teacher and friend.

She protected me from the crazy that was, Mother. Over the years, I realized Father was more than just supportive to Taiang, and I’m sure Mother knew too. Infact… Mother grew very angry. Yinka tells me this. At the time, Yinka was ignored by everyone. They wouldn’t listen to what she had to say, unless I said it for her, and even then they claimed she didn’t exist. Of course I knew better.

Yinka says that Mother would sit at night and watch over me. She tells me that Nanny was trying to steal me away from Mother, although this I’m not so sure of. Mother never liked me much before then. But what I do believe is, she hated Nanny, because Nanny was stealing Father.

I saw Nanny and Father once, kissing and caressing each other; sometimes I’d hear them too. Yinka and I are sure Mother heard as well; but I don’t understand why Mother never did anything. Well, that is until Nanny told her what to do. I was asleep, but Yinka remembers.

Yinka says that Nanny told Mother that if she wasn’t going to take care of me, she should at least make it easier for me to be taken care of. Mother told her to leave and never come back, but Nanny refused. Father was at work, so there was no one there to stop mother from stealing the air right out of Nanny’s lungs. I saw that part; the part where Nanny had her breath stolen away by Mother. While I loved Nanny, Yinka has told me it was her own fault for getting killed.

Mother ran to me after killing Nanny, cradling my thirteen year old body close. This is why Yinka believed Mother loved me, because of this moment and the next. Father came home, devastated by what he found. Mother had not set me down yet and it had been hours. She refused to release me when he tried to remove me from her embrace, but she was adamant on holding me. She was almost like old Mother again, the one that would bake cookies with me. She ended up getting taken away from me, just when I got her back. The Fire Nation officers came and took her, dragging her as she cried my name.

Part of me resents them all, while another holds them close to my heart. I remember all of this, as I hold my locket in hand. The train slightly rocks back and forth as it rounds the corner and enters Republic City. Father sent me away as soon as he realized my mind is like Mother’s. I don’t see how, Yinka says she doesn’t know either. Now Father knows Yinka is real, he’s met her, though he can only see her when I’m sleeping. That’s what Yinka says at least; but Father won’t speak to me about it. He sees me as Mother and I think that scares him.

I look away from my locket to observe the others. So many like me. It’s not the first that I’ve been surrounded by similar people, I’m simply being transferred to one of the best “Medical Institutions” there are. I’m tired now, from all this reminiscing, I think I will sleep.

Finally, I am allowed to see for myself. See where we are being taken and how we can escape. I was going to have us leave before Sudo sent us away, I knew it was coming, but Suyang wouldn’t sleep. I needed her to sleep so I could kill that worthless man who decided to send us off instead of help us. I think Suyang knew my plans, and that’s why she wouldn’t sleep.

She carries a soft spot for that man, when it is all his fault. Our mom loved us, she just doesn’t understand that. Mom understood us, unlike Sudo, our “father”. He didn’t help mom, how could I expect him to help us, how could we expect him. But, Suyang did, and was beyond disappointed when he didn’t.

Of course those “doctors” were able to convince her that being locked up, being held in captivity, and punished for “acting out” was help. She still sees it as help and it’s sad how gullible she is. She even believes we’re being transferred to a more “advanced and abled” facility. But she’ll toughen up soon enough, she’ll have to, cause as soon as this train stops we’re escaping. I just have to convince these other people to help us. I refuse to be put back in that hell. It would be fine if they left us alone, left me alone, but they always asked Suyang to allow me to speak. As if I wanted to speak to those needle sticking, drug pushing, brain dissection “psychologist.”

They decided that to get rid of me, they’d fill Suyang up with drugs, so not even she was there. We were both stuck together in her mind, which could become terribly cramped. When I convinced her to stop swallowing the drugs, she got tortured. It was even worse when I came out. Ice baths, electric shocks, withdrawal from food. All the while, that man would come to visit and I’d tell him what they were doing, but he was too terrified of us to do anything.

Mother would have understood. I swear if I see that man again, I’ll slit his throat and use his blood to highlight my books. I refuse to return to another helpful place, where Suyang is convinced that they are assisting her. She wasn’t always this gullible, but something changed, maybe it was the taking of her freedom. Or possibly, the rejection from that man. It doesn’t matter though, we need to escape.
