This Earthbender belongs to Weirdo Guy

Appearance[]

Daruka is a light olive-skinned man with long, shaggy, dark brown hair and green eyes. He is slim, but very tall, giving an intimidating appearance. Typically, he is attired in a jet-black coat and also wears metal bracers and other bands long his arm. His face is very idiosyncratic and bony, and he wears five o'clock shadow and bores a scar over his left eye.

History[]

Daruka was born in the northern Earth Confederation to a family of farmers. Though humble, it was a proud tradition that even the Hundred Year War and Earth Civil War couldn't take. But despite this, Daruka eventually decided it was time to move away. An idealistic young man, he moved to Republic City, the most beautiful city he had ever seen. Unfortunately, the slums where he resided were not so pretty.

First gaining employment as a humble boxer loader for an old warehouse, Daruka scrapped by long enough to get accepted into the Republic City Police Academy. His prowess and natural inclination toward earthbending eventually caused him to advance to the Beifong Metalbending Academy. Graduating as the salutatorian of his class, Daruka went on to join the elite Metalbending Police Force.

During his career, Daruka saw many things that made him much less idealistic and more of a stern, even bitter realist. The most integral of these experiences was his episodes with the Senju family, who he held nothing but disdain for. Seeing many of their grusome crimes really left an imprint on him, but none moreso than what they had done to his friend and comrade, Zorros, an undercover agent.

As he butted heads with his superiors, who refused to go after the Senju clan due to their considerable power, Daruka left the force and returned to his home in the Earth Confederation. As he journeyed these lands, he became more spiritual, but also turned to vigilantism. In doing so, he turned to the Syndicate, a considerably powerful, but mysterious organization.

Ten years later, Daruka returned to Republic City as he heard rumors and whispers of an organization calling itself the Faceless. He met its young leader, and though initially dismissed him as an idealist, decided to join the organization and watch over it as it gained a surprising renown for its actions.

Personality[]

A man of humble origins, Daruka understood the struggles of a poor man. Despite this, he always felt he was destined for something greater. As such, he has great faith in his abilities, often bordering on the arrogant. On the contrary, he holds outsiders in low regard, distrusting anyone he deems as such.

Daruka is a calm and conniving man, preferring to keep to the shadows away from the sight of the larger gangs and the Republic City police force, ever so patient. He prefers to approach problems directly, often taking lead during operations he orchestrates and believing wholeheartedly in the saying "If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself." Because of this, he's not a very good team player and often prefers to work alone. He tends to be somewhat cryptic and enigmatic.

Powers[]

Earth Citizen[]
Initial Powers[]
  • Earth Bomb

The user can send a small boulder flying in any direction once struck which breaks apart into many smaller projectiles when it hits something.

  • Earth Smash

The user is able to crush or even shatter anything made of stone without any force required.

  • Earth Shield

The user is able to create a small wall made of stone which can be used to defend or obstruct a path.

  • Earth Levitation (Passive)

The user is able to cause earth to levitate allowing them to use any earth they control as a moderate defense or even to allow time to prepare an attack.

  • Compression Control (Passive)

The user is able to compress earth into a much denser state allowing them to harden soil or stone for stronger offense or defense. The user must take time to compress the earth.

Basic Powers[]

(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed.)

  • Earth Column

The user is able to force sharp columns of stone out of the ground that can be used to cut or even stab others as well as obstruct paths. (Achieved after 1 week)

  • Earth Shelter

The user is able to pull together many stones around them in order to form a makeshift shelter as a defense around them or something else. They can also use it to encase an enemy. (Achieved after 2 weeks)

Advanced Class[]

Stone Guardian[]
(Achieved after 1 month)
Initial Powers[]
  • Earth Launch

The user is able to create jets of stone out of the ground which can be used to launch things into the air as well as a sort of spring to soften falls from high distances.

  • Rock Gloves/Shoes

The user is able to create gloves and shoes out of stone to be used for enhanced melee attacks as well as used as projectiles to bind others. The user can not use any other form of earthbending while controlling the gloves or shoes.

  • Earth Armor (Exclusive to Stone Guardian)

The user is able to surround their entire body in gem which enhances their melee attacks as well as defends against attacks against them. The user is slowed considerably while wearing the armor. Users also have the option of coating their bodies in regular stone, this armor would reduce mobility restrictions, stone would be easier to gather than crystal and stone is obviously easier to break than crystal.

  • Earth Sink (Exclusive to Stone Guardian)

The user can sink enemies and objects into the ground, trapping them within the earth. Sinks take a moment to form and only a maximum of two can be sustained at once. Requires line of sight.

Advanced Powers[]

(Note: Once a power is chosen, it cannot be changed. Also, Master level powers can only be achieved after 7 months and require 2 open power slots.)

  • Seismic Sense (Passive)

The user is able to sense their surroundings by feeling tremors in the ground. This allows the user to 'see' with their earthbending in a large area around them. (Achieved after 2 months)

  • Metalbending (Passive; requires 2 open slots)

The user is able to bend metal. Metal is significantly denser than stone and in turn makes the act of bending it take longer than if it were stone. The user may only metalbend one object at a time, the size of the object does not matter nor do any other objects connected. (Achieved after 7 months)
